About MapRounds
Free geography practice with maps, flags, capitals and printable worksheets. Learn how the quizzes work and what you can do without an account.
MapRounds is a free place to practice geography. Study a map, try a short quiz and return to the places you missed. Choose countries, capitals, flags or physical features such as rivers and mountain ranges. You can play without an account.
Know what you are practicing
Each quiz tells you which places it includes. The world country set follows the 193 UN member states; regional quizzes explain their groupings. Physical geography quizzes cover named selections rather than claiming to rank the world’s largest or longest features.
Several ways to practice
- Study the labeled map and answer list before a quiz.
- Try a short round or the full set, with or without a timer.
- Answer with text choices, keyboard controls or the map.
- Review incorrect and skipped answers without changing the first-round score.
- Print practice sheets and answer keys, or download the first-sheet map as an SVG.
Independent learning material
The guides use original diagrams, examples and exercises. Maps, flags and factual references are credited separately under their own licenses. MapRounds is not affiliated with the United Nations, Natural Earth, GeoNames or the governments mentioned in its material.
What the maps and scores can tell you
The maps are simplified for learning. They are not navigation guides, legal boundary records or travel advice. A score describes one practice round, not an official assessment. Use the dated source notes for questions about names or capital roles, and include the page URL when reporting a correction.
